Following an arrest sweep of 40 people last year, one of the Ocean County men has plead guilty to the charges today. The sweep, known as “Operation Statewide” led to the arrest of men from every county in New Jersey. Bruce Davis, 55, of Whiting, was arrested August 15, 2016 following an investigation that led state police to his home.

Davis has admitted to his involvement in the file sharing network of child pornographer viewers in the area, a network that is regularly used by child sex offenders. He plead guilty to the second-degree charge of child porn distribution. As a result, he faces a sentence of up to 5 years in state prison, two and a half of which would be without parole eligibility. He will face parole supervision for life and must register as a Megan’s Law sex offender.

The police had a warrant to search his house following an investigation, they took his laptop which contained over a hundred images and videos of child pornography, nearly a quarter of which were in a “shared folder” that other perverts could access and download from.

Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino has made his message clear, “As Davis has learned, those who promote the cruel exploitation of children by viewing and sharing child pornography online are going to find themselves viewing and sharing inside of a prison cell.”

The sentence is scheduled for October 11 before Superior Court Judge Linda G. Baxter.
