Disbarred Attorney Lawrence Tosi Arrested After Stealing Thousands from Clients

Lawrence Tosi, 58, an attorney in Woodland Park, NJ, is charged with two counts of theft and one count of forgery, after allegedly stealing between $250,000 and $500,000 from his clients’ funds.

Tosi is accused of failing to turn over client funds during a real estate transaction, and in another case accused of failing to turn over client funds in an estate matter. Tosi allegedly used the funds for personal matters.

After being admitted to the bar, Tosi became active in Passaic County political organizations. In 2010, Tosi represented Paterson city councilman Rigo Rodriguez and in 2013, he represented Geovanni Regalado during the mayoral race in Passaic County.

According to court documents dated November 1, 2016, Tosi was disbarred by the New Jersey Supreme Court for “unethical conduct”.

Passaic Prosecutor Valdes is urging any clients who may have suffered financial loss as a result of attorney dishonesty, to file a claim with the office for Client Protection in Trenton, NJ. Tosi was released after the arrest on March 30, 2017, and could not be reached for comment.
