HECTOR ARREDONDO OF WEEHAWKEN CHARGED WITH ARSON

HECTOR ARREDONDO, 35 years of age, of 37 Boulevard East, Weehawken, New Jersey on the charge of Arson. The charge is the result of an eleven- month investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad under the direction of Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, the Leonia Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas ROWE, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department under the direction of Sheriff Michael SAUDINO.

On August 22, 2015, at approximately 12:18 a.m., during a patrol of a wooded area in Overpeck Park in the Borough of Leonia, Leonia Police Sergeant David STEIN discovered a 2010 Nissan Murano fully engulfed in flames. The Leonia Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The Bergen County Arson Task Force was then notified. During the preliminary investigation, task force members determined that the fire was intentionally set. The vehicle was determined to be registered to Hector ARREDONDO. It was later determined that ARREDONDO provided false information to detectives investigating the fire and that ARREDONDO was responsible for setting the vehicle fire.

Hector ARREDONDO was charged with one count of Arson and lodged in the Bergen County Jail. Bail was set in the amount of $35,000.00 with no 10% option. His first appearance has been set for July 20, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in Bergen County Central Municipal Court.

Acting Prosecutor Grewal states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Leonia Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance with this investigation.
