Jersey City Resident Arrested for Murder

On October 5, 2017, the Jersey City Police Department were notified and immediately responded to gunshots being fired in the vicinity of Central Avenue and Graham Street in Jersey City, New Jersey. When the police officers arrived, they had found McLaughlin lying on the floor not responding. Police officers noticed a gunshot wound to McLaughlin’s torso and a blunt force trauma injury to his head. McLaughlin was quickly taken to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

On October 11, 2017, a young adult named Jose Mojica, a nineteen (19) year old resident of Jersey City, was arrested and charged with murdering Donald McLaughlin III. McLaughlin was a thirty-seven (37) year old resident of Union City. Police officers located and were able to apprehend Mojica without any issues or struggle.

Mojica is being charged with First-Degree Murder, Second-Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Second-Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Handgun).

All persons are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
