Rikers Island Inmate Chavarr Gilliam, Found Guilty of Harassment of Correction Officer

Chavarr Gilliam, 26, is currently already serving an 18 year prison sentence for a robbery conviction, under investigation for a murder charge in Manhattan, and now has been convicted of Attempted Forcible Touching.

He was convicted of Second-Degree Harassment along with Attempted Forcible Touching by Criminal Court Judge Bahaati Pitt on June 21, 2017. His sentence is scheduled for July 12, and he could get an extra 3 months in prison tacked on.

The incident occurred on February 7, 2017, when Gilliam grabbed the butt of a female correctional officer in front of a few fellow inmates.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark took a stand saying, “The sexual degradation of a correction officer doing her job is disgusting and unacceptable.”

CHAVARR GILLIAM, D.O.B. 1/21/1991, is an inmate at the Otis Bantum Correctional Center facing the following charges.

Murder in the Second Degree, a class A felony, one count
Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B felony, four counts
Assault in the First Degree, a class B felony, two counts
Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony, two counts
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony, two counts
