Rhamell Burke Charged with Murder for Allegedly Pushing 76-Year-Old Man Down Subway Staircase

On June 17th, 2026, the arrest of Rhamell Burke, age 32, was announced by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr.. Rhamell Burke was charged with second-degree Murder as a class A-I felony. The arrest and charges against Rhamell Burke were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Detective Nicholas Clemente of the 13th Precinct Detective Squad and Detective Frank Difranco of the Manhattan South Homicide Squad

According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, on May 7th, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m. both Rhamell Burke and the victim, 76-year-old Ross Falzone, were simultaneously walking towards the 18th Street and 7th Avenue subway station entrance. As Ross Falzone paused momentarily as he reached the top of the staircase leading to the station, Rhamell Burke allegedly and unpromptedly shoved him down the stairs with both hands. Responding EMS personnel transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital at approximately 10:00 p.m. to be treated for head injuries and broken ribs. Ross Falzone’s brain bleeding significantly progressed until he was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:55 a.m. the next morning.  

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Rhamell Burke are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
