Rashad A. McCaskill of Paterson, New Jersey, Charged for Firing Weapon Inside Phillipsburg Residence

On September 18th, 2025, the arrest of Rashad A. McCaskill, age 40, was announced by Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone. Rashad A. McCaskill was charged with second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, second-degree Being a Certain Persons Not to Possess a Weapon, fourth-degree Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, fourth-degree Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, and two counts of Criminal Mischief. The arrest and charges against Rashad A. McCaskill were a result of an investigation handled by the Phillipsburg Police Department

According to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, on September 15th, 2025, reports of shots fired within a residence were responded to by officers of the Phillipsburg Police Department on the 100 block of Fox Street. A description of the individual responsible for firing and was given to the officers enroute to the scene. No injuries related to the shooting were reported or discovered. Allegedly McCaskill was having a verbal confrontation with another individual when he fired a single shot from a Glock 9mm handgun. The bullet from the gun the defendant fired ended up going through one of the exterior walls and got lodged into the interior wall of a neighboring residence, the occupants of the property being present in their home when the bullet was shot.


The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Rashad A. McCaskill are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
