The arrest and charges against Mariam Alli were a result of an investigation handled by Detective Timothy Harrington of the 102 Precinct Detective Squad and Sergeant Robert Denig from the Highway Division Collision Investigation Squad

According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 9:27 p.m. on August 13th, 2025, Mariam Alli alongside another 21-year-old friend were seated at the bar inside of the Tropix Lounge on Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone Park, New York. Mariam Alli was reported to have drunk multiple beers before her and her friend left at around 11:30 p.m. that night. Allegedly both of Mariam Alli’s children, ages 2 and 3, were left unattended in her vehicle during the two hours she was at the Tropix Lounge. At approximately 12:02 a.m., Mariam Alli allegedly ran through a red light while driving above the posted speed limit on the wrong side of the road. On the intersection of 84th Street and Rockaway Boulevard, Mariam Alli allegedly struck a Mazda SUV being operated by a driver that had the right of way and was following the proper traffic rules. After the collision all victims were swiftly transported to a local hospital, the 3-year-old son was treated for a hip fracture and a broken tibia and the 2-year-old was treated for a liver laceration, pulmonary contusion, and an adrenal hematoma. The 21-year-old friend who was in Mariam Alli’s passenger seat at the time of the collision suffered from two broken legs, missing teeth, and other unspecified injuries. Mariam Alli was treated for a neck fracture, fibular fracture, and other unreported injuries. The driver of the Mazda SUV was treated for chest pains and injuries. Data from Mariam Alli’s vehicle during the time of the crash indicated the vehicle was traveling at 57 miles per hour when the posted speed limit in that area was 25 miles per hour. Tests done on Mariam Alli revealed that her blood alcohol content measured between .132 percent and .159 percent an hour after the crash, nearly double the legal limit of .08 percent.

The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Mariam Alli are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
