On September 17th, 2025, the arrest of Luis Saula Quindi, age 40, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Luis Saula Quindi was charged with three counts of first-degree Vehicular Assault, two counts of second-degree Assault, three counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Aggravated Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, and several other charges related to Reckless Driving. The arrest and charges against Luis Saula Quindi were a result of an investigation handled by Officer Justin Elder from the NYPD’s 110th Precinct.
According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 8:05 p.m. on September 14th, 2025, Luis Saula Quindi was in Corona, New York, driving southbound on 102nd Street in a 2013 Honda Accord. Allegedly the defendant failed to brake at a stop sign on the corner of 102nd Street and Martense Avenue and ended up hitting a parked Nissan sedan. Afterwards Luis Saula Quindi allegedly continued to drive onto the sidewalk and struck two pedestrians. The 72-year-old male and 13-year-old female ended up being pinned under the defendant’s vehicle. Emergency responders transported both the victims to a local hospital to be treated for severe body trauma, the adult male needing surgery to his left leg for a fractured knee and shin in addition to a shoulder injury, and the teenage female required surgery on her abdomen and legs. Officers from the NYPD’s 110th Precinct arrested Luis Saula Quindi at the scene of the crash and administered a breathalyzer test. It was recorded that Luis Saula Quindi had a blood alcohol content of .25 percent which is more than triple the legal limit of .08 percent.
The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Luis Saula Quindi are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
