On July 1st, 2025, the arrest of Francisco Caminero, age 34, was announced by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr.. Francisco Caminero was charged with first and second-degree Bail Jumping, second-degree Coercion, third-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, third-degree Rape, and third-degree Assault. The arrest and charges against Francisco Caminero were a result of an investigation handled by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, the FBI, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, on February 4th, 2018, Francisco Caminero had allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend inside of his Inwood, New York apartment in the presence of their 6-month-old child. The defendant reportedly had repeatedly punched the victim in her face until she obliged to have sex with him out of fear of being physically abused further. Francisco Caminero was originally arraigned and charged on April 4th, 2018, and was released on bond. However after failing to appear on two separate court dates a bench warrant was issued that led to the additional charge of two counts of Bail Jumping. Investigation into the defendant led to locating his whereabouts in the Dominican Republic before he was extradited back to the United States.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Francisco Caminero are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
