On April 15th, 2026, the arrest of Nasir Seals, age 22, was announced by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr.. Nasir Seals was charged with first-degree Sexual Abuse, second-degree Burglary, second-degree Burglary as a Sexually Motivated Felony, and second-degree Abuse. The arrest and charges against Nasir Seals were a result of an investigation handled by Detective Eduardo Perezromero and Sergeant Anca Dogarescu of the New York Police Department.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, on the morning of March 18th, 2026, the victim was in the midst of mopping a hallway in a building that’s a part of the New York City Housing Authority’s Rangel Houses. At approximately 7:38 a.m. Nasir Seals allegedly entered the building and entered a stairwell near the victim in order to secretly observe her as she was mopping. Two minutes later the defendant then emerged from the stairwell and entered the hallway before then rushing up to the victim from behind and forcing his body onto hers. Nasir Seals allegedly had also wrapped his arms around the victim before sexually abusing her as she tried to force himself off of her. As the attack was ongoing the defendant slammed the victim up against a nearby apartment door while trying to forcefully remove her shirt. The victim managed to break away from the defendant’s grasp before hiding herself in a nearby apartment and locking the door. Nasir Seals attempted multiple times to open the door and began banging on it when unsuccessful. After failing to open the apartment door the defendant fled back to the stairwell he hid in previously in order to exit the building. On his way home Nasir Seals stopped to change into a new set of clothes. Nasir Seals was located and arrested in his home on March 20th, 2026.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Nasir Seals are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
