On April 27th, 2026, the arrest of Shaqueal Parker, age 31, was announced by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr.. Shaqueal Parker was charged with first-degree Assault, second-degree Attempted Murder, and two counts of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The arrest and charges against Shaqueal Parker were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Detective Christopher Olsen of the 13th Precinct Detective Squad, NYPD Detective Danielle Venuto of the Manhattan South Homicide Squad, and NYPD Detective Brendan Bradley of the NYPD Warrant Section.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Shaqueal Parker had attempted multiple times to forcefully enter a supportive housing residence near 28th Street and Madison Avenue. This led to the defendant being banned from visiting or entering said property. On March 30th, 2026, Shaqueal Parker approached a security guard at the supportive housing residence with inquiries about his ban from the property. At approximately 12:25 p.m. after conversing with the security guard the defendant allegedly pulled out a firearm and at close range fired multiple shots at the victim who was unarmed. The security guard was struck in the abdomen with wounds that pierced and fractured his spine and damaged his intestines. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where two surgeries were required amongst other treatment. After the shots were fired Shaqueal Parker fled from the scene while changing his clothing and hiding his original outfit inside of his backpack he was carrying with him. On April 7th, 2026, the defendant was located and arrested at his girlfriend’s residence.
TheManhattan District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Shaqueal Parker are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
