On July 14th, 2026, the arrest of Jose Sanabria, age 32, was announced by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Jose Sanabria was charged with two counts of first-degree Robbery, first-degree Home Invasion Burglary, second-degree Aggravated Assault, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The arrest and charges against Jose Sanabria were a result of an investigation handled by U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 3:30 a.m. on May 31st, 2026, a home invasion robbery taking place on the 100 block of East Summerville Avenue was reported. Officers from the Collingswood Police Department responded to the resident to discover the victims were an elderly couple both in their 80s. It was reported by the husband that two men entered their home and one of them repeatedly punched him in the face as the other demanded to know where his gold coins were. One of the men brandished a pocket knife before dragging the victim upstairs where his wife was already lying on the floor with a bag covering her head. Both suspects threatened to kill the victim’s wife if he moved or didn’t give up the location of his valuables, leading to both of them managing to flee from the scene with currency and gold totaled to approximately $5,000. An investigation was launched shortly afterwards that identified Jose Sanabria through nearby surveillance video footage, cellular data, and other unspecified evidence. This led to the defendant being charged on June 23rd, 2026, before then being apprehended on July 8th, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force– Philadelphia Division.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Jose Sanabria are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
