Dilayda Aksoy was arrested and charged with Endangering The Welfare of a Child. The investigation into the case was led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office and the Edgewater Police Department.

On February 17, 2020, the Edgewater Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims’ Unit of a 13-year-old girl who was repeatedly sexually assaulted by 19-year-old Khaled Khalil. Khaled Khalil was arrested on February 19, 2020 and charged with one count of Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2C(4), a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A, a 3rd degree crime.

A thorough investigation revealed that Dilayda Aksoy was aware about the abuse and was complacent in Khaled’s actions. She provided drugs and alcohol to Khaled on multiple occasions. Dilayda Aksoy was arrested on February 24, 2020 and charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A, a 3rd degree crime.

Aksoy was released on conditions after her first appearance at the Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court In Hackensack, NJ. The charges are accusations and the defendant is innocent until proven guilty. The Prosecutor’s Office is under the supervision of Chief Robert Anzilotti. The Edgewater Police Department is under the supervision of Chief Donald Martin. The prosecution into this case will be led by Mark Musella.
