On February 16th, 2026, the arrest of Oskar Smieszek, age 23, was announced by New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport. Oskar Smieszek was charged with second-degree Manufacturing an Unregistered, Unlicensed Firearm with a Three-Dimensional Printer, second-degree Possessing an Unregistered, Unlicensed Assault Firearm, third-degree Attempted Impairing the Morals of a Child, third-degree Attempting to Show Obscene Material to a Child, and fourth-degree Possessing Large-Capacity Ammunition Magazines. The arrest and charges against Oskar Smieszek were a result of an investigation handled by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office

According to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, during the month of April 2025 an undercover officer posed as an underage girl on social media platforms and received messages from another user that was later identified to be Oskar Smieszek. Through online conversations the defendant discussed meeting with the fictitious girl knowing she was underage in order to have sex with her. In addition to discussing sexual content Oskar Smieszek had also sent sexually explicit images to the undercover officer. This led to a court-authorized search warrant to be executed at Oskar Smieszek’s residence on February 6th, 2026. Several images were produced within the home in addition to officers seizing multiple electronic devices, two unregistered firearms, a 17-round magazine, three 30-round magazines, and three 20-round magazines.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office stated that the charges against Oskar Smieszek are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
