Samuel Silva Charged in Deadly Manhattan Hit-and-Run

Samuel Silva, 27, was sentenced to 1-4 years for a deadly hit-and-run in June of 2016, while under the influence of alcohol. Silva stuck a 30-year-old female bicyclist with his truck, while driving intoxicated, and then fled the scene of the accident.

The victim, newlywed and triathlete Olga Cook, was left bleeding on the ground. Less than a half hour later, the victim was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.

At the scene of the accident on June 11, 2016, a bystander witnessed the hit-and-run, and quickly took a picture of Silva’s license plate. Ten minutes later, Silva was apprehended by police officers, still in his truck, parked three blocks away.

Silva pled guilty to charges of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, Criminally Negligent Homicide, and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol.
