On February 10th, 2026, the arrest of Terrell Campbell, age 29, was announced by Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly. Terrell Campbell was charged with two counts of first-degree Assault as a B violent felony, fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Unlawfully Possessing Noxious Materials. The arrest and charges against Terrell Campbell were a result of an investigation handled by the Nassau County Police Department and the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office.
According to the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 8:30 p.m. on March 17th, 2021, after work the victim and her mother were returning to their home in Elmont, New York. The mother went inside the house while the victim was grabbing belongings from the car. As she was about to enter her home Terrell Campbell, who was nearby wearing a hooded sweater, a mask, and gloves, allegedly ran up to the victim and threw a cup of liquid onto her. The liquid was determined to be 70% sulfuric acid which was splashed onto the victim’s face, chest, one eye, and the inside her throat. Terrell Campbell immediately fled afterwards as the victim fell to the ground in severe pain. She was transported to Nassau University Medical Center to be treated for second and third-degree burns on her face, arms, wrists, shoulders, right eye, and esophagus. Following immediate treatment the victim also had to endure various pain, infections, surgeries, skin grafts, and esophageal dilation for her to breathe and eat properly. An investigation initiated by the Nassau County Police Department and Nassau County District Attorney’s Office were able to link Terrell Campbell to a vehicle at the scene of the crime during the attack. Video surveillance of the area depicted a red Nissan Altima missing its license plates parked outside the victim’s home and fleeing from the area shortly after the assault. Despite any registered owner of the vehicle being unable to be located initially, later in the year members of the community and further cooperation with tech companies provided further information leading detectives to identifying Terrell Campbell. The defendant allegedly drove a 2015 red Nissan Altima on a regular basis registered under a family member’s name which was discovered based on multiple traffic violations, tickets, and accidents that he provided his driver’s license for. Various images off of License Plate Reader from before and after the incident also helped in identifying Terrell Campbell’s vehicle to the one at the scene. The defendant was also found out to be an aspiring rapper that goes by the name “YungBasedPrince” and some lyrics in a music video named “Obsidian” included, “on the street in the night like an assassin, try to run up and have your face burn in acid,”. Terrell Campbell’s Google search history also included phrases such as “sulfuric acid remover”, “sulfuric acid on car seat”, “can you recover from sulfuric acid burn”, and “acid attack Franklin Square Long Island”.
The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Terrell Campbell are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
