On June 3rd, 2025, the arrest of Warren Rollins, age 49, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Warren Rollins was charged with second-degree Murder, second-degree Manslaughter, Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, and Criminally Negligent Homicide. The arrest and charges against Warren Rollins were a result of an investigation handled by [Officers/Detectives].
According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 8:05 p.m. on December 10th, 2023, Warren Rollins was driving eastbound on Hempstead Avenue near 220th Street in Queens Village, New York. The defendant was operating a Chevrolet Traverse when he hit Gary Charlotin who was lying in the road. Prior to this collision Gary Charlotin was struck by a Toyota Camry that launched him into the eastbound lange. Warren Rollins initially stopped his vehicle while several pedestrians warned him about Gary Charlotin being stuck underneath the car. Two minutes later Warren Rollins allegedly drove off at a high rate of speed, dragging the victim under the car for several blocks until he finally became unstuck on Hempstead Avenue near the Cross Island Parkway overpass. Nearby bystanders called emergency services, however responding aid pronounced Gary Charlotin dead at the scene. An investigation by the NYPD reviewed surveillance footage of the surrounding area as well as obtained DNA evidence from the damaged Chevrolet Traverse to identify Warren Rollins as the vehicle’s owner.
The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Warren Rollins are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
