On February 3rd, 2025, the arrest of Tyre R. Dunn, age 36, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Tyre R. Dunn was charged with two counts of first-degree Attempted Murder, first-degree Armed Burglary, two counts of second-degree Aggravated Assault, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, third-degree Resisting Arrest, and fourth-degree Obstructing the Administration of Law.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Lodi Police Department collaborated in the apprehension of Tyre R. Dunn. On January 27th, 2025, officials attempted to arrest Tyre R. Dunn in connection to a previous criminal investigation and pending charges against him from Pennsylvania. Tyre R. Dunn fled from the officers apprehending him, armed himself with a pickaxe, and barricaded himself inside of a shed that was part of a private property in Lodi, New Jersey. Law enforcement called out to Tyre R. Dunn and demanded him to surrender, however, he instead burst out from the shed while violently swinging his pickaxe. Ultimately Tyre R. Dunn managed to strike one FBI officer on his bulletproof vest. The strike to the officer did not pierce the vest, and Tyre R. Dunn was subdued afterwards.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Tyre R. Dunn are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
