On August 11th, 2026, the arrest of Raymond Ng, age 51, was announced by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Raymond Ng was charged with second and third-degree Assault, second and third-degree Menacing, fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Official Misconduct. The arrest and charges against Raymond Ng were a result of an investigation handled by the New York City Police Department.
According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, in the morning of January 19th, 2026, a 49-year-old male with no prior convictions and charged with assault willingly surrendered himself to the NYPD’s 76th precinct after being instructed to do so by a detective. The aforementioned detective was not available when the man entered the precinct which led to Raymond Ng processing the arrest and handcuffing him. Video surveillance from inside the building depicted the two talking as they approached the holding cell, the defendant beginning to remove the handcuffs from the man. However instead of removing the handcuffs Raymond Ng is seen leaving them on before pushing the man into the cell. The arrestee is seen trying to spit or feign spitting on the defendant as the cell door is being shut. This led to Raymond Ng allegedly entering the cell and attempting to kick the victim before throwing him against the wall. The defendant then allegedly repeatedly punched him while holding the cell padlock in his right hand until other officers intervened. The victim suffered a facial abrasion, orbital fracture, bruising, bleeding, and persistent pain in his head and right shoulder. Raymond Ng had joined the NYPD in 2015, however after this incident he was demoted to a police officer and placed on modified duty.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Raymond Ng are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
