On October 16th, 2025, the arrest of Shamil Caesar Jr. and Abdul Tatum, both 18-years old, was announced by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Shamil Caesar Jr. and Abdul Tatum were charged with first-degree Attempted Murder, first-degree Robbery, two counts of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, two counts of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second-degree Aggravated Assault, second-degree Attempted Aggravated Assault, and fourth-degree Criminal Mischief . The arrest and charges against Shamil Caesar Jr. and Abdul Tatum were a result of an investigation handled by the Camden County Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, on September 10th, 2025, a shooting was reported at a residence on the 1200 block of Dupont Street in Camden, New Jersey. Responding officers found that the house struck by the gunfire was occupied, but none of the individuals inside the residence were injured. Later on October 2nd, 2025, at approximately 11:02 p.m., a male shot on the 100 block of Blackwood-Clementon Road in Lindenwold, New Jersey was responded to by officers from the Lindenwold Police Department. Responding officers located the unnamed 23-year old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and transported to Cooper University Hospital to be treated for his injuries. With later investigation, detectives learnt that the victim was shot while being robbed. Collaborative efforts led to the identification of Shamil Caesar Jr. and Abdul Tatum, and both defendants were located and taken into custody on October 14th, 2025.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Shamil Caesar Jr. and Abdul Tatum are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
