Story by Ethan

On January 7th, 2026, the arrest of Nicole Boodhai, age 28, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Nicole Boodhi was charged with second-degree Murder. The arrest and charges against Nicole Boodhi were a result of an investigation handled by Detective Frank Pistone of the NYPD’s 103rd Detective Squad and Detective Anthony Ferranda of the Queens South Homicide Detective Squad

According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the victim and Nicole Boodhai lived in a two story family house on 157th Street alongside the victim’s father and other extended family. On December 29th, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the father left for work while the rest of the family residing there were still asleep. The father returned at approximately 10:45 a.m. and observed the defendant and victim still sleeping, however after he left again he received a concerning call from Nicole Boodhai approximately 3 hours later at 1:35 p.m.. Nicole Boodhai called her husband and told him she had killed their son and would soon also kill herself. The father would then call the victim’s grandmother, who was living on the first floor, and tell her to check on Nicole Boodhai and the victim. The grandmother was able to enter the second floor and found the bathroom door shut and locked. Another relative helped force open the door to discover Nicole Boodhai sitting in the bathtub surrounded by blood and holding the victim who was unresponsive and unconscious. Relatives at the residence called 911 and responding officers attempted to resuscitate the victim while transporting him to a local hospital, however upon arrival he was pronounced as deceased. Nicole Boodhai was also taken to the hospital for treatment for wrist lacerations and psychiatric evaluation.

The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Nicole Boodhi are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
