On January 23rd, 2026, the arrest of Kevin Morgan, age 31, was announced by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Kevin Morgan was charged with first-degree Attempted Assault, first-degree Reckless Endangerment, second-degree Attempted Murder, and second-degree Assault. The arrest and charges against Kevin Morgan were a result of an investigation handled by New York City Police Department Detective Mark Shackel of the FBI-NYPD Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, under the supervision of Lieutenant Amy Morin, and under the overall supervision of Inspector Gary Marcus.
According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, on January 1st, 2024, the 25-year-old victim, who was being paid for engaging in sexual conduct at the time, reported to local law enforcement that she had been assaulted by several people earlier that morning at Wortman and Alabama Avenues. An investigation into the incident managed to recover surveillance footage of a red jeep, registered to the defendant, that stopped at the aforementioned streets before ramming into the victim as she was standing on the sidewalk. The jeep was stationary for a traffic stop, and an iPad subsequently was seized with a recording of the defendant driving the jeep before being stopped. The video prior to the collision was being taken by a female passenger in the backseat, capturing the defendant saying, “Oh, there she go — she in the middle of the thing,”. The female passenger responded with, “Oh, perfect opportunity,” before the defendant allegedly drove into the victim with the jeep. After the incident the defendant allegedly sent the video to multiple people with the message, “I don’t regret it. This was a message to everybody. Not playing around this year,”. The victim was transported to Brookdale Hospital to be treated for injuries consistent with being assaulted by a vehicle, however she has no recollection of ever being struck by the jeep.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Kevin Morgan are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
