On March 25th, 2025, the arrest of Junior Perez Diaz, age 46, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Junior Perez Diaz was charged with first-degree Manslaughter, second-degree Murder, and both first and second-degree Kidnapping. The arrest and charges against Junior Perez Diaz were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Detective Jeovany Geronimo of the 46th Precinct and NYPD Detective Anthony Caltabiano from Bronx Homicide.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, the victim, 27-year-old Pamela Alcantara, was reported missing to authorities on March 2nd, 2025, after not attending a church service she usually goes to. Junior Perez Diaz was questioned about the victim’s whereabouts and stated to friends, family, and authorities that he had no knowledge where Pamela Alcantara was after she left their residence with a suitcase wearing pajamas. The victim’s body was found on March 6th, 2025, inside a red suitcase on the side of the Saw Mill River Parkway. Surveillance on Morris Avenue captured Pamela Alcantara allegedly entering the apartment building around midnight on March 1st, 2025, and Junior Perez Diaz also arriving approximately two hours later. An unspecified amount of time after entering the building the defendant allegedly exited with a red suitcase that matched the description of the suitcase that Pamela Alcantara’s body was found in.
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Junior Perez Diaz are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
