Terrell Loyd of Brookly, New York, Indicted for Shooting a Teenager In Front of a School

On June 16th, 2025, the arrest of Terrell Loyd, age 19, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Terrell Loyd was charged with first-degree Manslaughter, second-degree Murder, two counts of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds. The arrest and charges against Terrell Loyd were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Detectives Colin Higgins and Kyle Keiser of the Bronx Homicide Squad, Detective Rossi Mata of the 40th Precinct Detective Squad, and Detective Gary Capellan of the Bronx Warrants Violent Felony Squad

According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 4:00 p.m. on March 7th, 2024, the defendant’s girlfriend was involved in a physical altercation with the victim’s girlfriend on the premises of P.S. 157 Grove Hill Elementary School Woodstock Section. Both Terrell Loyd and the victim, 17-year-old Laquai Dash, were both present at the scene of the fight with their girlfriends, and Laquai Dash attempted to intervene and break up the situation. Following the victim’s actions Terrell Loyd allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic 9mm pistol and fired six shots in the direction of Laquai Dash, two of the shots hitting the victim in his back. Laquai Dash was taken to NYC Health+Hospitals Lincoln in critical condition, however after arriving the victim was pronounced dead. The altercation was captured by surveillance cameras on the school’s property that subsequently led to Terrell Loyd’s arrest on May 21st, 2025, by the NYPD Bronx Warrant Squad.


The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Terrel Loyd are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
