On February 11th, 2026, the arrest of Devonte Brown, age 30, was announced by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Devonte Brown was charged with seven counts of first-degree Sexual Abuse, second-degree Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, seven counts of second-degree Sexual Abuse, seven counts of Forcible Touching, and four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest and charges against Devonte Brown were a result of an investigation handled by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office

According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, between the dates of April 1st, 2024, and August 22nd, 2025, Devonte Brown had allegedly subjected four different students, ages five, five, six, and nine, to sexual abuse under his supervision at the Bushwick childcare center. Allegedly Devonte Brown had inappropriately touched the victims’ intimate body parts over and under their clothing while in his care inside of the childcare center. On one occasion in July 2025 the defendant had allegedly sexually assaulted one of the victims in the vicinity of pier 6 at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Devonte Brown had also allegedly intimidated the victims into silence by threatening them with claims about their favorite teacher being fired if they were to report him or his actions to anyone. In August and September 2025 the children had reported the alleged abuse to their parents who then contacted local law enforcement to begin an investigation.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Devonte Brown are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
