On March 31st, 2026, the arrest of Jalen Gonzalez, age 23, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Jalen Gonzalez was charged with third-degree Harassment, fourth-degree Animal Cruelty, and fourth-degree Criminal Mischief. The arrest and charges against Jalen Gonzalez were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Officer Daniel Fisher.
According to theQueens District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 12:00 a.m. on January 12th, 2026, Jalen Gonzalez and his girlfriend were inside her residence when the defendant reportedly became belligerent and refused to leave the premises. Allegedly Jalen Gonzalez grabbed and squeezed his girlfriend’s leg, leading to her escaping the defendant’s grasp and calling a family member for help while leaving the home. After some time passed the woman returned to her house and reportedly observed Jalen Gonzalez allegedly stretching her pet cat by holding her by the neck and legs. The cat’s legs were broken and mangled, and her mouth and body were covered in blood. Blood and vomit were also present on the ceiling, walls, and floor of the room, and Jalen Gonzalez’ shirt was soaked in blood. Officers from the NYPD responded to the scene and arrested the defendant without incident. Following an investigation a forensic veterinarian performed a necropsy that determined the injuries the cat suffered. These injuries included a crushed skull with several fractures, a fractured jaw, missing teeth, rupturing in the right eye, both eyes protruded from their sockets, severance between the head and spine, a torn diaphragm, rib fractures in 24 areas, a torn artery leading to the heart, a shattered pelvis, fractured hind legs, and torn or lacerated spleen, kidneys, and liver.
The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Jalen Gonzalez are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
