On April 7th, 2026, the arrest of Kevin Crosby, age 49, was announced by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr.. Kevin Crosby was charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, second-degree Manslaughter, seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs as a misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving as a misdemeanor. The arrest and charges against Kevin Crosby were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Officer Brian Kehoe of the Highway Safety Enforcement Unit and NYPD Officer Damian Weber of the 28th Precinct

According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 8:00 p.m. on March 19th, 2026, Kevin Crosby was driving his SUV in the bus-only lane on West 125th Street in the area of Fredrerick Douglass Boulevard and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard. The defendant was allegedly travleling at a high rate of speed when he collided with two food delivery workers on bicycles. The first cyclist was struck with the hood of the SUV which flung him into the air before hitting the ground, the second cyclist similarly being launched by the collision. Both victims landed approximately two car lengths away from the initial hit. The first victim, 28-year-old Zacarias Darly, was killed from the crash with the cause of death being blunt force injuries to his neck and head. The second 33-year-old victim was hospitalized for nine days after being in critical condition with head trauma, a broken leg, and a fractured elbow. Following the initial collision with the victims Kevin Crosby continued to drive at a high rate of speed until he hit a double-parked NYPD vehicle and lodged the SUV under a semi-truck.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Kevin Crosby are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
