On September 11th, 2025, the arrest of Chad J. Hefter, age 42, was announced by Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson. Chad J. Hefter was charged with one count of third-degree Burglary, one count of third-degree Theft, and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Mischief. The arrest and charges against Chad J. Hefter were a result of an investigation handled by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Holland Township Police Department.
According to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, on March 24th, 2025, an employee from a Shell Gas Station in Milford, New Jersey was reporting for his shift when he found the location to have been burglarized. Local police obtained security footage from the prior night and discovered a man burglarizing the store after closing hours. The suspect broke the front glass with what looked to be a miniature sledge hammer, then taking several tobacco products before fleeing from the scene. Detectives identified Chad J. Hefter as the alleged individual that broke in and burglarized the establishment.
The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Chad J. Hefter are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
