On November 7th, 2025, the arrest of Daniel Fama, Marjorie Fama, and Benedetto Cupo, ages 51, 61, and 66, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Daniel Fama, Marjorie Fama, and Benedetto Cupo were charged with first-degree Falsifying Business Records, second-degree Grand Larceny, second-degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and fourth-degree Conspiracy. The arrest and charges against Daniel Fama, Marjorie Fama, and Benedetto Cupo were a result of an investigation handled by the New York City Department of Investigation, New York Police Department, and the New York Waterfront Commission.
According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, Daniel Fama and Marjorie Fama had allegedly lied on a mortgage application for their $950,000 property on Colombia Avenue in Staten Island, New York. Detectives claim that Marjorie Fama falsely stated that she was employed by Benedetto Cupo under the title of ‘project manager’ of his construction company Eastland Associates. Marjorie Fama was receiving a supposed salary of $17,000 a month under Benedetto Cupo’s company, however she was actually employed as a teacher’s aid under the New York City Department of Education. It is alleged that Benedetto Cupo provided incorrect verification statements to both Daniel Fama and Marjorie Fama upon their request. The allegedly falsified verification statements were then submitted to the Metro City Bank in Bayside, New York. Metro City Bank being the lender of the $550,000relied upon the verification statements the defendants submitted in order to make the decision to grant them said loan.
The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Daniel Fama, Marjorie Fama, and Benedetto Cupo are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
