Story by Ethan

On October 16th, 2025, the arrest of Abi Corbin, age 53, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Abi Corbin was charged with first-degree Identity Theft and second-degree Grand Larceny. The arrest and charges against Abi Corbin were a result of an investigation handled by the Office of the Special Commissioner of Investigation for the New York City School District.

According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, during the time between July 2021 to July 2024 Abi Corbin allegedly made unauthorized purchases for cheerleading merchandise and resources for her own private cheer company Queens Campus Cheer. Abi Corbin was able to allegedly make these purchases using her previous employment as a community associate at the East-West School for International Studies in Flushing, New York. Abi Corbin had allegedly used the school principal’s login information and signature to authorize the purchases, which totaled to approximately $415,000. On July 31st, 2024, the principal of the school was notified that numerous boxes arrived to the school containing cheerleading materials. The school doesn’t have any cheerleading teams and Queens Campus Cheer isn’t associated with the school or the town’s Department of Education

The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Abi Corbin are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
