On August 4th, 2025, the arrest of Diego A. Zhinin, age 37, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Diego A. Zhinin was charged with second-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact. The arrest and charges against Diego A. Zhinin were a result of an investigation launched by Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Chief Andrew McGurr of the Teaneck Police Department.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, they were contacted on August 1st, 2025, by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency for an alleged case of sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 16. An investigation launched led detectives to Diego A. Zhinin as the alleged individual that had sexually abused a child under 16 years old from November 2020 until July 2025. Diego A. Zhninin was located and arrested on August 2nd, 2025 in Teaneck, New Jersey.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Diego A. Zhinin are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
