On March 5th, 2026, the arrest of Dimitrios Manessis, age 48, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Dimitrios Manessis was charged with second-degree Murder and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The arrest and charges against Dimitrios Manessis were a result of an investigation handled by the NYPD.
According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 1:20 p.m. on March 3rd, 2026, Dimitrios Manessis was standing outside his apartment unit when his neighbor, 75-year-old George Dourdounas, entered the building. Reportedly the defendant had been arguing with this neighbor previously up until the murder. After George Dourdounas approached his apartment unit the defendant allegedly punched him, knocking the elderly man to the ground. As the victim laid on the ground Dimitrios Manessis allegedly entered his apartment and returned with an unspecified sharp object, then using it to repeatedly stab the victim before going back inside his residence covered in blood. Another building resident found George Dourdounas’ body and called 911 which led to responding NYPD officers apprehending Dimitrios Manessis at the scene.
The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Dimitrios Manessis are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
