On January 23rd, 2026, the arrest of Nargiza Shukurova, age 39, was announced by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Nargiza Shukurova was charged with second and third-degree Assault, second-degree Reckless Endangerment, fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Unauthorized Practice of a Profession. The arrest and charges against Nargiza Shukurova were a result of an investigation handled by [Officers/Detectives].
According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, the defendant used social media apps under the names “Dr. Nargiza” and “Dr. Nargis” to promote herself and offer, “butt enlargement, buttocks shape correction,” and “Barbie lips,” services alongside before and after photography of the procedures. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated that the Brazilian butt lift (“BBL”) requires intensive care as it’s the procedure with the highest mortality rate out of all cosmetic surgical procedures. Nargiza Shukurova did not have a license to practice medicine or perform any of the procedures she advertised on her social media pages. An investigation into the defendant revealed that on May 7th, 2023, she had allegedly performed a BBL procedure on a victim. The surgical procedure was done at Fleur de Beaute Salon in Sheepshead Bay, New York, which was not an authorized surgical facility. The defendant also allegedly did not view the victim’s medical history, perform any standard examinations, or follow proper surgical procedures and safety measures. In the following days after the procedure the victim began to experience medical complications stemming from the surgery, including a life-threatening infection. Despite the immediate danger Nargiza Shukurova repeatedly discouraged the victim from seeking medical attention in an attempt to keep her condition a secret. Approximately three weeks after the procedure the victim lost consciousness in her home, the family then transported her to a local hospital for surgical treatment. The victim required a dozen surgeries over the course of two months to treat the infection that nearly killed her. While recovering in the hospital Nargiza Shukurova allegedly left several voice messages on the victim’s phone begging her to lie about the surgery and not reveal her identity to hospital staff. After a warrant for her arrest was issued Nargiza Shukurova was arrested on January 9th, 2026, at Los Angeles International Airport.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Nargiza Shukurova are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
