On July 15th, 2025, the arrest of Ebony Gee, age 43, was announced by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Ebony Gee was charged with second-degree Desecration of Human Remains and second-degree Witness Tampering. The arrest and charges against Ebony Gee were a result of an investigation launched by Chief Gabriel Rodriguez of the Camden County Police Department.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, reports of an unconscious infant were made on the 1200 block of Lakeshore Drive in Camden, New Jersey. Responding officers and EMS personnel found a deceased male infant left inside of a trash bag covered bassinet. Detectives learnt from an investigation that Ebony Gee was assuming care for a friend’s infant starting in mid-April while living in their apartment in Camden, New Jersey. One interviewed witness told officers that Ebony Gee wouldn’t allow anyone to see the baby, and there were no visible signs of the infant being present. The witness took action and entered the second-story bedroom of the residence and discovered the deceased infant before notifying authorities on May 19th, 2025. The witness also reported that Ebony Gee had sent several threatening text messages to them after the discovery of the infant. The cause and time of death were unable to be determined due to the state of the body prior to the examination, however DNA results led detectives to the biological parents who did confirm Ebony Gee was responsible for the care of the infant during that time.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Ebony Gee are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
