On September 11th, 2025, the arrest of Everton Thomas, Sherrie Parker, and Deshawn Thomas, ages 41, 41, and 22, was announced by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Everton Thomas was charged with first-degree Murder, second-degree Desecration of Human Remains, and fourth-degree Tampering with Physical Evidence. Sherrie Parker and Deshawn Thomas were charged with second-degree Desecration of Human Remains and fourth-degree Tampering with Physical Evidence. The arrest and charges against Everton Thomas, Sherri Parker, and Deshawn Thomas were a result of an investigation launched by Chief Gabriel Rodriguez of the Camden County Police Station.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Harold “Hal” Miller Jr. of Deptford, New Jersey was reported missing to the Deptford Township Police Department on June 14th, 2025. The report stated that Harold Miller Jr. was playing cards with friends in Camden, New Jersey in the early morning of June 12th, 2025. Detectives were able to identify and locate Harold Miller Jr.’s vehicle parked and empty in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Found surveillance shows Harold Miller Jr. at approximately 11:30 a.m. entering a residence on the 2600 block of Baird Boulevard in Camden, New Jersey. The footage, which was also capturing audio, had the sound of what seemed to be a fired gunshot. Harold Miller Jr. was never seen leaving the premises, however one other man left the building shortly after the gunshot. Detectives allege that the man leaving the building in the footage was Everton Thomas, additionally pinning him to moving Harold Miller Jr.’s vehicle to it’s found location in Pennsauken, New Jersey. It was discovered that prior to the altercation, Sherrie Parker and Deshawn Thomas had purchased a chainsaw, trash bags, containers, and several cleaning supplies and chemicals. Surveillance also depicts Sherrie Parker and Deshawn Thomas making several trips to and from the dumpsters belonging to Tamarack Apartments in order to unload several different full trash bags and containers into a separate vehicle before taking off. A court-authorized search warrant for Everton Thomas’ residence was executed, and detectives found a loaded firearm on Everton Thomas’ person. The firearm had one round in the chamber and a ten-round magazine with nine rounds left. Suspicious bloodstains were also taken note of by detectives, and it was later confirmed to be the blood of Harold Miller Jr. Following the search warrant, Everton Thomas fled to Canada the next day. Sherrie Parker and Deshawn Thomas were located and taken into custody on September 8th, 2025, in Camden, New Jersey. Everton Thomas was located and arrested in the Buffalo, New York port as he was stopped by Custom and Border Patrol when crossing back into the US from Canada on a commercial bus.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Everton Thomas, Sherrie Parker, and Deshawn Thomas are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
