Two men have been arrested following a months-long investigation into armed hotel robberies that took place in Newark and Teaneck New Jersey last fall.
As a result of the investigation, Jibril M. Beamon, 32, of Somerset, and Shedrick A. Goodridge III, 35, of Jersey City, were taken into custody by police on May 22, 2025, after authorities linked them to the two robberies, which were just days apart in September 2024.
The first armed robbery occurred on September 19,2024, when two masked men walked into the Comfort Suites in Newark, pulled out guns, and forced a hotel employee to hand over cash from the front desk. Just two days later, on September 21, 2024, a similar armed robbery played out at the Hampton Inn Hotel in Teaneck, New Jersey,, where one of the suspects entered with a gun and stole money, while two employees were working at the hotel.
Investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, along with Teaneck and Newark police, worked over several months to identify Jibril Beamon and Shedrick Goodridge as the suspects. Authorities executed search warrants at both men’s homes, arresting them without incident.
Beamon and Goodridge are each facing First Degree Armed Robbery and other weapons charges. Both are being held in Bergen County Jail pending first appearance CJP court proceedings.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reminds the public that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He extended his gratitude to the Teaneck Police Department, the Newark Police Department, the Bernards Township Police Department, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
