On August 24th, 2025, the arrest of Kevin Dubuisson, age 28, was announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Kevin Dubuisson was charged with two counts of first-degree Assault, three counts of second-degree Robbery, second-degree Attempted Robbery, third and fourth-degree Grand Larceny, third and fourth-degree Attempted Grand Larceny, two counts of Menacing, and Assault on a Peace or Police Officer. The arrest and charges against Kevin Dubuisson were a result of an investigation handled by the New York Police Department.
According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 8:40 a.m. on August 22nd, an alleged altercation took place in the lot of a Mobile Gas Station in Whitestone, New York. It is alleged that Kevin Dubuisson entered the driver’s seat of an unattended white Hyundai Santa Fe that had the keys in its ignition and the engine running. A gas station employee approached the vehicle and ordered the defendant to exit the vehicle, leading to a physical altercation between the two after Kevin Dubuisson refused to comply. The employee attempted to remove the keys from the vehicle’s ignition before Kevin Dubuisson exited the vehicle and yelled at the employee. Video surveillance captured Kevin Dubuisson reaching in his waistband to simulate what looked like grabbing a firearm. A second observer from across the street was then approached by Kevin Dubuisson. The defendant allegedly threatened to kill the bystander and reached into his waistband appreciating to grip the handle of a hidden firearm.
At approximately 8:50 a.m. on the same day, Kevin Dubuisson allegedly approached a man in a black Toyota Highlander at the intersection of 22nd Road and Whitestone Expressway Service Road. The defendant knocked on the vehicle’s window and told the driver to “give me the car” while holding a metal hook-like object near the victim’s head. The victim exited the vehicle and ran away from Kevin Dubuisson with his key fob in his pocket. Kevin Dubuisson allegedly chased after the man and pushed him while demanding the keys to the Toyota, the victim throwing the keys towards the defendant which made Kevin Dubuisson flee towards the direction of the Toyota. Approximately 2 minutes later the defendant was operating the black Toyota Highlander when he hit a stationary vehicle at a high rate of speed which caused the parked car to hit both the owner and her 87-year-old mother onto the ground. The impact from the vehicle afflicted the woman with a fractured wrist and other injuries that required attention at a local hospital.
While this was happening on-duty but out of uniform NYPD Detective Corey Fisher observed the defendant running with what seemed to be a crowbar before rushing over to attend to the Toyota’s owner who was on the ground. After asking if he needed help the detective pursued after the defendant, witnessing him colliding into the parked vehicle. Detective Corey Fisher turned on the police lights on his unmarked police vehicle, a Chrysler, and positioned the car in front of the Toyota Kevin Dubuisson was operating. The defendant allegedly drove the Toyota into the side of the Chrysler, eventually causing the Toyota to stop. Both the detective and his partner exited from the vehicle with their police-issued firearms drawn while telling the defendant to “stop the vehicle”. Other uniformed NYPD officers arrived on the scene and approached the Toyota with their guns drawn as well.Detective Corey Fisher heard several gunshots from the vicinity of the uniformed officers before being struck in his right hand and left leg. The detective was taken to a local hospital to be treated for two gunshot wounds and a broken leg.
The Queens District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Kevin Dubuisson are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
