On September 15th, 2025, the arrest of Rashad A. McCaskill, age 40, was announced by Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone. Rashad A. McCaskill was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, being a Certain Person not to Possess a Weapon, Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, and two counts of Criminal Mischief. The arrest and charges against Rashad A. McCaskill were a result of an investigation launched by the Acting Chief of Detectives Brenton S. Warne of the Philipsburg Police Department.
According to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, reports of a gunshot on the 100 block of Fox Street had officers from the Philipsburg Police Department respond to the area at approximately 9:35 a.m. on September 15th, 2025. Officers were given a description of the suspect while enroute to the residence, and they quickly located the suspect attempting to leave the property. Detectives report that there was a verbal dispute between Rashad A. McCaskill and another individual that led to Rashad A. McCaskill firing a weapon inside of the building. The bullet traveled through one of the exterior walls before getting lodged into the wall of a neighboring building. A loaded glock 9mm handgun was retrieved from the scene as officers apprehended Rashad A. McCaskill.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Rashad A. McCaskill are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
