On February 3rd, 2025, the arrest of Elvis E. Sunder, age 37, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Elvis E. Sunder was charged with third-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, third-degree Endangering an Injured Victim, and fourth-degree Obstructing the Administration of Law.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, a 911 call reported a pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle at approximately 11:22 p.m. on November 23rd, 2024, on the intersection of Teaneck Road and Tyrone Avenue. Officers from the Teaneck Police Department responded to the scene and identified the victim as a 17-year old female from Englewood, New Jersey. The victim was swiftly transported to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Following the 911 call an investigation was launched by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit. The investigation determined that a 2015 BMW struck the victim as she was attempting to cross Teaneck Road. After the collision, the driver of the BMW fled from the scene without alerting any law enforcement or medical personnel of the collision or the state of the victim. After some months, the driver at the time of the collision was identified as Elvis E. Sunder.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Elvis E. Sunder are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
