On July 16th, 2025, the arrest of Orsman Summerville, age 40, was announced by Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw. Orsman Summerville was charged with first-degree Murder before being arrested following his release from a medical facility in Morris County. The arrest and charges against Orsman Summerville were a result of an investigation handled by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, Burlington Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police, Morristown Police Department, and lead investigators BCPO Detective Joseph R. Clark and BTPD Detective John Arent.
According to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, on July 6th, 2025, local officers responded to the 100 block of Andre Court to investigate reports of a deceased Enid Wordsworth, age 72. Enid Wordsworth was found by family members passed away inside her apartment that she shared with her son Orsman Summerville. An autopsy later uncovered that Enid Wordsworth’s death was due to blunt bludgeoning injuries. Allegedly after Orsman Summerville had murdered Enid Wordsworth, he fled from the scene in a vehicle the victim owned. An alert was sent out to law enforcement of the vehicle’s description and license plate, and the vehicle with Orsman Summerville was located after being involved in a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 287 in Morris County, New Jersey. Orsman Summerville’s injuries from the crash required medical attention, but the defendant was arraigned shortly after being released from the medical center’s care.
The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Orsman Summerville are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
