Lamont Truitt of Trenton, New Jersey, Charged for the Shooting of his Girlfriend

On November 17th, 2025, the arrest of Lamont Truitt, age 36, was announced by Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey. Lamont Truitt was charged with first-degree Murder, first-degree Carjacking, two counts of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and second-degree Being a Certain Persons Not to Possess a Weapon. The arrest and charges against Lamont Truitt were a result of an investigation handled by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department

According to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 5:51 a.m. on November 16th, 2025, multiple fired rounds were reported to the Teaneck Police Department through ShotSpotter in the area of Oakland Street in Trenton, New Jersey. Responding officers located a 25-year-old female victim on the 200 block of Coolidge Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, swiftly transporting her to Capital Health Regional Medical Center to be treated. Shortly after, the Teaneck Police Department received another call reporting a second female victim being shot several times before the assailant fled in a grey four-door motor vehicle. However, responding officers were unable to locate the victim after arriving on the scene.

Upon further investigation detectives were able to identify the victim as 32-year-old Alyssa Murphy, and the vehicle in question was a silver Toyota Camry. It is claimed that Alyssa Murphy was in the silver Toyota Camry along with a friend parked on the side of the road on Coolidge Avenue. Allegedly the assailant, later identified asAlyssa Murphy’s boyfriend Lamont Truitt, approached the vehicle and got into an argument with her before pulling out a handgun and firing multiple shots. The other 25-year-old victim was able to exit the vehicle before allegedly Lamont Truitt entered and drove away with Alyssa Murphy. The Lower Makefield Township Police Department shortly after the initial investigation were able to locate the silver Toyota Camry with the deceased Alyssa Murphy in the area of East Ferry Road and Delaware Canal in Pennsylvania.


The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Lamont Truitt are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
