Jorlyn Paulino of New York, New York, Indicted on Hindering Charges Surrounding a Homicide Investigation

On February 3rd, 2026, the arrest of Jorlyn Paulino, age 25, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Jorlyn Paulino was charged with third-degree Hindering the Apprehension of Another. The arrest and charges against Jorlyn Paulino were a result of an investigation handled by the Englewood Police Department

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 5:55 a.m. on September 30th, 2023, officers from the Englewood Police Department responded to a reported shooting at a private residence on Mevan Avenue in Englewood, New Jersey. Responding officers located the victim, identified as 25-year-old Jason Hidalgo, suffering from several gunshot wounds at the scene. EMS personnel transported the victim to Englewood Health Hospital & Medical Center to be treated for his wounds, however he was pronounced as deceased after their arrival. A joint investigation was initiated that identified Joshua Alvarado as the individual responsible for Jason Hidalgo’s death. Following the shooting Joshua Alvarado had fled from the United States, however after being charged he was tracked, located, and arrested in Medellin, Colombia on February 17th, 2024. Further investigation after Joshua Alvarado’s extraditement alleges that Jorlyn Paulino had assisted his escape after the shooting of Jason Hidalgo. Detectives claim that Jorlyn Paulino drove Joshua Alvarado to the United States and Mexico border after the events of the homicide. This information led to locating Jorlyn Paulino and arresting him in Manhattan, New York, on January 30th, 2026. 


The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Jorlyn Paulino are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
