On January 20th, 2026, the arrest of Lissette Soto Domenech, age 64, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Lissette Soto Domenech was charged with two counts of first-degree Assault, two counts of first-degree Reckless Endangerment, first-degree Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person, two counts of second-degree Reckless Endangerment, and four counts of second-degree Offering a False Instrument for Filing. The arrest and charges against Lissette Soto Domenech were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Detectives Eric Droz and Kelvin Sanchez of the Bronx Child Abuse Squad

According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, from November 3rd, 2016, to October 15th, 2025, the defendant allegedly ensued circumstances that physically harmed, as well as endangered and put the lives of her two 14-year-old sons at risk. Allegedly in November 2016 Lissette Soto Domenech stopped taking her kids to a doctor. In September 2017 the defendant allegedly began to submit false documentation to the New York City Department of Education claiming she was homeschooling the two children. On October 15th, 2025, an Administrator for Children’s Services Child Protection Specialist went to the defendant’s residence after numerous anonymous complaints were made. The admin called 911 to investigate and found both of the boys severely malnourished, weighing only 51 pounds and 54 pounds each as well as being significantly below an average height. One of the sons has autism but was never evaluated or received care or services for his condition. No nutrients were found inside Lissette Soto Domenech’s apartment other than infant cereal, as well as bottles and toys for infants being recovered. Both children were taken to Montefiore Children’s Hospital by FDNY Emergency Medical Technicians where they underwent intensive care for three months.

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Lissette Soto Domenech are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
