On August 18th, 2026, the arrests of Antony Arlequin Salcedo, age 27, Robert Castillo, age 42, and an unidentified third defendant were announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Antony All three defendants were charged with second-degree Grand Larceny, second-degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Conspiracy, and other unspecified charges. The arrest and charges against all three defendants were a result of an investigation handled by Senior Investigative District Attorney Miriam Bell-Blair, Trial Preparation Assistant Jason Singer, Legal Writer Karla Leiva, BXDA Senior Detective Investigator Brendan Sullivan, and Jeffrey Moro.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, from May 2025 through October 2025 an investigation called “Operation Life Saver” uncovered the three defendants and their involvement in 50 individual thefts throughout the Bronx. The defendants were known to scout various targeted locations, steal a vehicle from the area, and then use the stolen vehicle to commit further thefts of airbags, steering wheels, and sensors. All defendants were fully masked with gloves and completed each theft within a minute at most. The total value of all thefts tracked during the investigation added up to $110,483 while the value of property damaged totalled to $114,936.
A separate investigation took place on May 17th, 2026, that involved officers from the 45th precinct who had observed Antony Arlequin Salcedo and another unidentified individual allegedly in possession of a stolen 2022 Honda CR-V. The area surrounding the stolen vehicle was searched and a box was recovered that contained 27 airbags with a total estimated value of over $25,000. The NYPD investigated the incident and determined 12 of the airbags were linked to complaint reports made the same day that were filed to the 109th precinct. The total estimated combined value of the stolen airbags and stolen vehicle was over $50,000.
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Antony Arlequin Salcedo, Robert Castillo, and the third unidentified defendant are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
