Bruce E. Behringer of Park Ridge, New Jersey, Charged with Illegal Voting and Tampering of Public Records

On May 27th, 2025, the arrest of Bruce E. Behringer, age 69, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Bruce E. Behringer was charged with third-degree tampering with public records or information, third-degree false registration, and third-degree attempting to cast an illegal vote. The arrest and charges against Bruce E. Behringer were a result of an investigation launched by Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, on March 4th, 2025, their Confidential Investigations Unit was notified by the Bergen County Board of Elections of potential voting offenses against a Bergen county resident. Through an investigation, law enforcement discovered that allegedly between September 2020 and November 2024, Bruce E. Behringer falsely filled out and submitted a New Jersey Voter Registration Application and three additional mail-in ballots under other people’s names. The alleged incident led to Bruce E. Behringer’s arrest months later. 


The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Bruce E. Behringer are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law.
