On June 17th, 2025, the arrest of Chaquasia Pigford, age 28, was announced by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Chaquasia Pigford was charged with second-degree Murder, first-degree Manslaughter, first-degree Reckless Endangerment, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Without Reporting. The arrest and charges against Chaquasia Pigford were a result of an investigation handled by active staff of the New York Police Department.
According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 11:56 p.m. on May 24th, 2025, Chaquasia Pigford and the victim, 32-year old Tiffany Cifuni, were driving in the area of Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Van Buren Street when the defendant ended up rear ending Tiffany Cifuni car, a 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Chaquasia Pigford was driving a red Chevrolet Trax that was reported as stolen earlier that night by the vehicle’s registered owner. Allegedly Tiffany Cifuni stopped her vehicle and exited in an attempt to talk to Chaquasia Pigford to handle the accident, the defendant then accelerating her vehicle and striking the victim before dragging her body northbound towards Lafayette Avenue. While Tiffany Cifuni was located, the injuries she suffered to her head and body were too severe and she was unfortunately pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Chaquasia Pigford are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
