On August 20th, 2025, the arrest of Jonathan Odenthal Diaz, age 31, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Jonathan Odenthal Diaz was charged with second-degree Murder. The arrest and charges against Jonathan Odenthal Diaz were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Detective Robert Cintron of the Bronx Homicide Division, NYPD Detective Andrew Nash of the 48th Precinct Squad, and U.S. Southern District of New York.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, shots fired were reported at approximately 5:30 p.m. on January 6th, 2017, in the area of Boston Road and East Tremont Avenue in West Farms, New York. Responding personnel found 48-year-old Cindy Diaz and transported her to Saint Barnabas Hospital for care, however she unfortunately passed while in the hospital. According to detectives, Cindy Diaz was walking with her children on their way home for dinner when she was shot once in the chest. Allegedly Jonathan Odenthal Diaz was the suspect who had fired the single shot killing Cindy Diaz.
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Jonathan Odenthal Diaz are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
