On September 3rd, 2025, the arrest of Kavon Burton, age 31, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Kavon Burton was charged with Attempted Murder in the second-degree, two counts of Attempted Assault in the first-degree, two counts of Attempted Assault in the second-degree, Attempted Assault in the third-degree, two counts of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. The arrest and charges against Kavon Burton were a result of an investigation handled by Trial Preparation Assistant Steven Castro of Trial Bureau 40, Video Unit Director Joao D’Alessandro, and NYPD Detective Perry Jean of the 43rd Precinct Squad.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, Kavon Burton was seen on surveillance footage in an argument with the 28-year-old victim in the area of McGraw Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m. on June 29th, 2025. Kavon Burton attempted to disengage by walking away from the victim, however the victim continued following him. Allegedly Kavon Burton suddenly turned around to face the victim before pulling out a gun from his fanny pack firing at least four shots, two hitting the victim and two more hitting a nearby parked vehicle. Those four shell casings were recovered at the scene during the investigation.
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Kavon Burton are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
