Osmary Jimenez-Luna of North Bergen, New Jersey, Charged for Hit-and-Run Incident

On July 15th, 2025, the arrest of Osmary Jimenez-Luna, age 34, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Osmary Jimenez-Luna was charged with third-degree knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, fourth-degree endangering an injured victim, and several related motor vehicle offenses. The arrest and charges against Osmary Jimenez-Luna were a result of an investigation launched by Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Chief Scott Tamangy of the North Bergen Police Department

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, responding officers from the Leonia Police Department located an unconscious 77 year old adult female pedestrian on Grand Avenue near the intersection of Ames Avenue in North Bergen, New Jersey. Officers identified that the injuries inflicted on the victim were from being struck by a vehicle. The victim was swiftly transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with critical injuries where she remains in critical condition, and an investigation was launched into the incident. Assistance from the Leonia Police Department, Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and Bergen County Fatal Accident Task Force. Detectives revealed that the victim was attempting to cross Grand Avenue when she got struck by a red vehicle that fled the scene. The vehicle was located by officers by being identified as a red 2012 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle was then linked back to Osmary Jimenez-Luna being the driver at the time of the hit-and-run. Osmary Jimenez-Luna was located and arrested on July 14th, 2025. 


The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Osmary Jimenez-Luna are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
